A capsule wardrobe list wouldn't be complete without a classic Breton. Obvious, yes, but it's a fundamental piece to have if you want that Capsule Wardrobe with a quintessential Parisian flair.
A thin t-shirt style is the most French and they are perfect in the autumn to layer, here are a few of my favourites, I personally have The White Company one and the Boden one in my collection which are both great for layering under sweaters and blazers.
SHOP BRETONS
That next one looks nice with the ruffle hem, don't you think? If you are looking for a breton with a little extra then the Chinti & Parker heart Breton is always worth checking out.

Perfect for the winter are Bretons made of a thicker material, the master of these is Petit Bateau and their heavy jersey Mariniere is an iconic piece of clothing and one I have hanging in my own wardrobe. There are of course other options and notably Maison Labiche, with their cute embroidery adding a bit of je ne sais quoi.

As the temperatures drop nothing looks more Parisian than a chunky, striped nautical knit and it can look perfect styled with a Seventies vibe, flared jeans and heeled boots.
SHOP BRETON JUMPERS
Of course in my selection you will find Petit Bateau's classic sailor jumper and a few others from French brands available at Smallable, now La Redoute always have good options and I remember reading a Little Spree post, where Sarah's make up artist friend had recommended a men's Breton striped jumper from there. Well I found it ..... it is very left bank, 100% cotton and under £30 it seems a no-brainer, have a look for yourself, here.
Now, I started this post thinking I did not need ANOTHER stripe top/breton ..... well I am a stripe addict and I want the Sezane one and tempted to try the mens one from La Redoute..... Get me to Stripe Top Anonymous!
